First Day of "School"
"C'mon Mom! Let's go! No more pictures!"
As I have mentioned in the past, I enrolled Gabrielle in a "Mom's Day Out" program at a local church. It is a great way to get some time to myself each week and for Gabby to have group play and instruction. Monday was her first day and here's how it went...
She cried when I dropped her off, but the teachers said it was short-lived. They make all of the families wait in the lobby and that was overwhelming to her. She kept saying "I wan go school" the whole time we were waiting out there. THEN all those families take the kids to their classes and squeezing through the halls just isn't the best thing. It is way too crowded. She just didn't know how to handle all of the chaos and, frankly, I don't blame her! She was fine until we got to her classroom. I gave her a hug and kiss and she seemed okay with it all. Then I told her I would pick her up in a few hours and left. I was about 3 steps down the hall and she came running into the hallway crying. I consoled her for about 7 seconds (yes, just over 6, but not 8)and then just let the teacher take over. They said she calmed down pretty quickly and was great the rest of the day. The teachers said she ate lunch really well and was a good singer. Former music teachers always love to hear that last part. ;) She was in a great mood when I picked her up and seemed to have had a great time. She said she was looking forward to her next day at school. So it seems like it was a success!

I'm so glad to hear everything went so well! I think I would've cried, too, after dealing with a lot of people in a crowded hallway. It is good that her teachers were able to give such a good report and she's excited to go back!
Gosh, I'm having deja vu after reading this. ;)
What cute pictures! Gabby looks absolutely adorable in the pictures. I bet she is the teacher's pet FOR SURE, especially with her good voice! Yay for Gabby, and yay for you having a little time to get some things done, or maybe just catch up on TV. :)
I had too many posts to catch up on!!! Can you ask Kenton about adding an RSS feed?? :-)
So awesome that you won that contest, that's got to help out a little!
I'm glad her first day went well at school! :-)
THANK YOU!!! for the RSS feeds!!! You rock, Kenton.
Adorable! I love how her backpack is almost bigger than she is! Can't wait to see you all on Sunday, and call me anytime Gabbers wants to talk to Auntie Sarah!
I've missed my Gabby blogs! We moved to Atlanta this summer and I lost the URL. It was a sad time.
I love the backpack that is almost as big as she is. We found Zoe a Tinkerbell backpack on wheels for the move. I need to take a picture and post it. Too cute for words!
School drop offs do get easier. :)
She looks about 5 years old in her picture! Too cute. LOVE the backpack, too.
Good job, Gabby girl!
I still can't believe all the kids are entering mom's day out or preschool. How fun :) Her lunch box is too cute.
I can understand her being overwhelmed in the crowded hallway....who could blame her :) I am glad she calmed down and had such a fun time. I am sure you will surely love the time to yourself!!!
