Captiva, Florida

Kenton and I took a much-needed and much-deserved vacation to Captiva, Florida (northern portion of Sanibel Island) this past week. Gabrielle had 3 separate caregivers while were gone (my friend Erin, Kenton's mom and stepdad, and Kenton's dad and stepmom) that entertained her and took care of her even when she puked in their car (sorry Deb). We got a lovely hotel room (and a free upgrade to a 3-bedroom condo) at the South Seas resort and it's a good thing we did since it rained all but 2 hours that we were there. Thank goodness we maximized our two hours and actually got a sunburn in the two hours we spent outside. Here is a little photo recap of our time in Florida...

Queen bed in the back of the loft

Desk up in the loft reading area overlooking the living room

Reading chair up in the loft

Screened-in patio overlooking the ocean
View of the pool from our condo - yes, that blob is a heron hanging out poolside.

Those guys like to hang out wherever they can!

Our hotel room at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on Sunday night (Tampa, FL)

Kenton paid a little extra for the spa room...the tub separated the bedroom and the bathroom with this pass through. You could see the TV from the tub, too. Ahh...it was rough, especially after winning $100 in the casino.

View of the bathroom from inside the bedroom. You could slide the doors shut to close it off, too.

The rain shower was cool. I hadn't ever taken a shower with one of those shower heads before, but it was really refreshing!
How could you not love a face like that?
I'll work on my aim while taking photos of ourselves.

Turn down service at the hotel was great! They put new towels and rugs in the bathroom, chocolate guitars on the pillows, and set out a comfy bathrobe for your bath. Did I mention how great this place was?

What a great condo!!!! Although the weather wasn't the best, sometimes just being away alone can be a nice relaxing time :) I am glad that you 2 did enjoy the few hours of rays on the beach.

that first pic of the 2 of you is perfect!!!!

Congrats on your time away! Jeff and I had our first date in 5 months last weekend when we were at his parent's house. I don't know who had more fun, us or them! It looks like you had a great vacay and hopefully feel rejuvenated.

How awesome! Both places look so nice! I am so happy for you that you were both able to get away. I think everyone needs that, but especially parents of 2-year olds. :) Hopefully even though it rained you were able to rest up and just enjoy each other. And hey- good job for winning $! I always lose all of mine... :)
