Paint by Letter

Gabrielle was begging to paint with her "messy paints," as she called them, today. I don't mind the "messy paints" but they do take a lot of time to get out, set up, and then clean up. I wanted to do something new with her craft time today, so I combined the idea of "color by number" and the actions of using a Lite Brite to make "Paint by Letter." I printed off a Disney princess coloring page from the internet then wrote letters all over Ariel's body. The letters corresponded with the color of paint she was to use. I also color-coordinated the paint brushes with each paint color (mostly because I happened to have a variety of colors and could do that). It made it easy because she didn't have to wash her brush out at all! This is what we came up with:

It was a great way to reinforce letters while having fun!

What a crafty mom you are! I can't wait until Mia and I begin doing some activities together, too. Great pics of Gabby, too. Even when she doesn't feel too hot, she's still beautiful!

What a great idea! I'm with you...painting is not my favorite thing, just because of the mess involved. But that was a great way to turn it into a learning experience, and your organizational skills cut out the messiest part for sure. Way to go, girls! :)

Great idea! I will have to try this one of these days. I haven't had it in me to get out the "messy" paints lately. We've just done the "least messy" paints- watercolors. :) Great pics, too!

Oh, if only my children would paint so nicely... Beau slaps some paint down, smooshes it around, and calls it a day.

What a cool activity--and these pics--sheesh, girl, start a business already!! ;)
