Crazy Cups

Some of your saw this video via e-mail, but here is Kenton and Gabby in our hotel room at 10 pm. The little one was supposed to be in bed so Daddy was "helping" her calm down.

Charlotte's Web of Excitement

As stated in the blog entry below, here are our photos from Charlotte, NC. We visited Gabby's Great-great Uncle Nabeeh and his wife, Michelline. Michelline cooked the most delicious lunch for us and Nabeeh showed us his fabulous garden. Then we spent time with my friends, Kristin and David. Charlotte is a beautiful city with some of the biggest, most gorgeous homes I have ever seen! David was our tour guide on a little driving tour of the city and showed us the VERY large church where Dale Earnhart had his funeral (it also happens to be the church that Nabeeh and Michelline attend). It was SO BIG! (Okay...I had trouble uploading more photos and a video...will fix and get on here as soon as possible)

Fun in the North Carolina Sun

We took our first official "family vacation" a week ago to North Carolina. We flew into Greensboro on Skybus Airlines, a new airline that offers at least 10 seats at $10 each on every flight. Gabby, Kenton, and I flew down to NC for $108 total and Gabby had her own seat. Gabby actually SAT in her own seat on a portion of the flight home. When she wasn't busy kicking the little girl's seat in front of her, she jumped on my lap and tried to crawl over the back of my seat. Overall she did really well on the flights. Needless to say, traveling with a baby is not a whole lot of fun and I don't anticipate that we will do it again unless it is necessary. The highlights of our trip were attending Kelly's wedding (a friend from college) and seeing my best college friend, Kristin. We were able to stay with Kristin and her husband David for the last few days in Charlotte. It was SOOOOO much fun and made me miss her so much. Gabby had her ups and downs, but here are the gems from the trip... (Charlotte photos in a separate entry)

Cheese Head

We finally returned from our vacation and I found a few moments to update Gabby's blog. Nothing fancy, but here it is!

Gabby's newest favorite food is shredded cheese. She could eat it all day and even get excited when I pull the bag of cheese out of the refrigerator. It is quite the messy food, but she loves it and it keeps her occupied for 10 minutes at a time, so Mommy gives it to her with almost every meal! :) We have found it to be great for restaurants when we want a few minutes to actually eat our own meals!

Swing low sweet Gabby

Gabby, Jack, and I took a walk to the park today and hopped on the baby swings. Gabby loves them! I have some photos of her swinging with Moira when they visited, but have been too lazy to save them yet for uploading. Soon, I tell ya, soon.

Stand By Me

Gabby's new favorite thing to do is stand up all the time and pull up on any and everything she can get her hands onto. She played with her leapfrog table all day long because she could stand up and lean into it while she pushed the buttons and flipped the page. She loved it! She did fall a few times and only cried when she hit her head. She was a trooper! Check out her "Future President" onesie from her Auntie Sarah and Uncle Travis! (You might wonder why I take a lot of photos of Gabby from behind. There is just something so adorable about a little kid from behind. Don't know what it is, but I dig it!)

Ridin' in Cars with Mom

Gabby fell asleep on the way home from the grocery today and looked too cute asleep in her carseat. I had to take a photo!

The Hippy Hippy Shake

Thank you to all who have wished us well with Gabby's hip dysplasia. We have no new information as of now. We are expecting to hear the doctor tell us that we will have to take minimal action regarding her hips. Our appointment is on August 7th at the main St. Vincent Hospital on 86th St. Until then, we wait!

Charlie and the Gabby Factory

Once a week, Charlie Golden will be spending the day with Gabby and me as his mom, Betsy, begins a new job. Today was our first day together and it went almost too well! The babies played nicely, ate well, took a walk (Charlie fell asleep) in their double stroller, and napped at the same times. Charlie slept for 3 hours! I had to wake him up from his longest nap ever! I know that not every day will be like that, but it sure was a nice start! It is nice that Charlie can't crawl yet, as things will be much more difficult when I have to chase after both of them! I shot the photo above of Gabby while she was trying to stand up in her pack n' play. I put her there while Charlie took his bottles and she kept smooshing her face into the side. I laughed so hard!

GG Lee and GG George

Sorry it has been so long since I have posted any new information on Gabby. We spent most of last week in the company of my family, so I didn't have an opportunity to post. Also, I accidentally left my camera battery charger at my parents' house, so I am trying not to take many photos until we see them again on Wednesday. Anyway, our visit with my parents, Sarah and family, and my grandparents was wonderful. It was really fun talking, playing games, and sharing the babies. Of course the whole visit was so much more chaotic than in the past when we could all sit down at the table together and eat without worrying about the kids. Overall, the girls were well-behaved. Gabby had some trouble getting to sleep at night, which may have been harder on Kenton and me than it was on her! I'm not looking forward to her sleeping getting screwed up again when we go to North Carolina next week, but it is what it is. Enjoy the photos of our trip!
"Outta my way, Gabby! I'm taking center stage right now!"
"Maybe if we hold hands, we will be able to read it together!"
"Aunt Sarah, I swear that's the way all of the guys are wearing them these days!"
"Aunt Emily, you are my favorite!"
Moira glowing in the sunlight. She is so cute!

Four generations of brilliance.
